Introduction


The Beginner Level of the Professional Diploma in Branding provides learners with a solid foundation in brand creation and management. This stage covers the core principles of branding, visual identity, personality, messaging, and community building. Participants will gain an understanding of the Ethiopian branding context and learn how to apply AI tools to develop, maintain, and communicate a brand effectively. The course is designed to combine creative thinking with practical tools, ensuring students can translate theory into actionable brand strategies.


Trainee Qualification Requirements and Prerequisites

  • Basic literacy in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Familiarity with using a computer and the internet.
  • Interest in creative design, marketing, or communication.
  • No prior professional branding experience required.


Training Delivery

The program uses a blended training approach including:

  • Instructor-led lectures with live demonstrations of branding tools.
  • Interactive workshops for brainstorming and design exercises.
  • Group discussions and peer feedback sessions.
  • Practical assignments using both traditional and AI-powered tools.


Total Duration: 3 months (72 hours total – 24 classes × 3 hours each week)

Training Subject Areas

The Beginner Level provides a comprehensive understanding of what makes a brand successful, from concept to communication. Learners are introduced to each key component through case studies, Ethiopian cultural insights, and practical assignments.

  • Foundations of Branding in the Age of AI: Introduction to branding concepts, the difference between branding, marketing, and visual identity, the role of storytelling, and how AI tools can assist in brand concept development.
  • Visual Identity & Brand Design: Understanding brand visuals, including logos, colors, typography, and design principles. Exploration of Ethiopian aesthetics, color psychology, and use of AI-powered design tools.
  • Brand Personality & Messaging: Crafting a brand’s voice, tone, and messaging system. Exploration of cultural language elements, such as Ethiopian proverbs and idioms, to create authentic connections.
  • Building Brand Loyalty & Community: Understanding brand loyalty psychology, storytelling for emotional connection, community-building techniques, and tools for digital engagement.
  • Strategic Brand Building & Positioning: Advanced frameworks for brand positioning, value proposition design, and market segmentation in Ethiopia and beyond.


Assessment and Evaluation

  • Practical exercises: Logo design, brand story drafting, and mockup creation.
  • Final project: Creation of a basic brand identity and messaging kit.
  • Quizzes to check conceptual understanding.
  • Peer reviews and group feedback sessions.
